As my favorite tenor Josep Carreras was already starting to sing less, especially in operas it was time to find a new tenor. José Cura has Carreras initials and his birthday (December 5th). Great omen (Comparison with Josep Carreras). I saw Cura first in 1997 and since then, many times. Cura is in many ways Plácido Domingo's heir. He, like Domingo, is a conductor, not just a tenor.
In many ways is like Carreras, but Cura sings Otello so he is also like Domingo. He is the 4th tenor in many ways. The new tenor who will be the 1st tenor after the 3 tenors. JC doesn't like to be called 4th tenor... But 4 th is the new 1st.
Cura is from Argentina, just like Marcelo Alvarez. They are 2 completely different tenors, but good friends.
